Deaf orphaned children who were abandoned on the streets and taken in by the police,
eventually being moved to the PHIN Deaf Residential School many years ago Since their families could not be
traced, and they have been unable to locate any relatives, their situation remains unresolved Additionally, they
lack essential identification documents, such as an Aadhar card, making it difficult for authorities to officially
verify their identities or offer the full range of government services Despite these challenges, they have found
a supportive environment at PHIN Deaf Residential School, where they continue to receive education and
care However, their status as orphaned children without family ties or proper identification remains a critical
issue Efforts should be made to assist them in reconnecting with their families, if possible, and ensure they
have access to all the rights and resources they deserve as children in need of care and protection
The deaf students at PHIN Deaf School often do not have immediate family members to support
them; however, their relatives play a crucial role in providing care and assistance in their lives.
These relatives support the students in various aspects, including education, travel, and
accommodation. It is truly heart breaking that many of these students have faced challenges
during their childhood due to the absence of their families. Fortunately, their caring relatives step
in to offer the protection and support they need
The Deaf students at PHIN Deaf School actively engage with their Deaf family members, fostering
effective communication and encouraging educational pursuits. Their enthusiasm for joining
PHIN Deaf School is evident, as they are keen to continue their learning journey. These students
demonstrate remarkable intelligence and capability in their education, contributing positively to
our Deaf community.
At People Hearing Impaired Network Deaf School, dedicated teachers play a crucial role in
supporting students with multiple disabilities (both hearing impairments and mental retardation
(MR )). They adapt lessons using sign language, visual material, and assistive technology to ensure
students can engage with the material. By creating an inclusive, patient, and supportive
environment, teachers help students develop communication, academic, and life skills,
collaborating with families and therapists to meet each student’s needs and promote success.
